  • ABOUT SEDONA

Sedona is a famous southwestern city known to be one of the most beautiful and spiritual places on the planet. The city is set in the transition zone between the sonoran desert of southern Arizona and the high elevation forests of northern Arizona. It's location near the Mogollon Rim gives it a specactular backdrop of sandstone buttes, cliffs, and canyons that make it one of the most iconic landscapes in the American Southwest.

It is an earthy city oriented towards the fine arts and outdoor recreation and is famous for new age culture, hardcore canyoneering and endless hiking/biking/ohv trails.

Sedona has a high desert climate and is at a moderately high elevation. October is typically a beautiful time of year to visit, with warm days and crisp nights. Rain is possible but not likely. Fall color should be just beginning to emerge in the canyons and should be at peak through the high peaks of the San Francisco range near Flagstaff, which reach nearly 13,000 feet.

  • WEDDING WEEKEND

If possible, we would like everyone to arrive in Sedona on Thursday, October 16th, 2025. Lodging is covered by me! Us guys have a house with red rock views all to ourselves, and it is walking distance to Uptown Sedona. The girls will have their own house, but we'll see them plenty. We will be coordinating transportation to and from the house.

We will also coordinate our dress - more info to come later. I will likely wear a terra cotta or sedona red suit, and the bridesmaids will (closely) match me.

Please wear your bolo tie and lean into the southwestern atmosphere :) both of us are excited to share Sedona and Arizona with all of you and we want this to be an event that is a genuine expression of us, sedona, and the southwestern culture we love so much.

  • WHAT TO KNOW

BY CAR: Sedona is 90 minutes north of Phoenix and 45 minutes south of Flagstaff.

From Phoenix (90 minutes): take interstate 17 north from Phoenix to exit 289 where you will exit onto SR-179. From there, continue to Sedona by way of the Village of Oak Creek and the beautiful Red Rock Scenic Byway.

From Flagstaff (45-60 minutes): take interstate 17 south to exit 339 where you will exit onto SR-89A. Follow the signs through the roundabout for Sedona and continue to Sedona through spectacular Oak Creek Canyon - one of the most beautiful drives in the state especially during autumn. Alternatively, take interstate 17 south to exit 289 where you will exit onto SR-179. From there, continue to Sedona by way of the Village of Oak Creek and the Red Rock Scenic Byway.

Note: most of I-17 is a very scenic but rugged interstate with steep grades and mountain curves - enjoy the views but please drive carefully, bring water, and plan for delays.

BY PLANE: You will more than likely want to fly into Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. Sky Harbor is a very large airport but it is easy to get around. If you are renting a car, you can take the Sky Train directly from your terminal to the rental car center station.

If you choose to fly in earlier and stay in Phoenix, here are your options:

  • you can take an uber/lyft from the terminal to your destination

  • take the sky train to the 44th street sky train station where you can transfer directly to the 44th st/Washington Metro rail station. from here you can take the Metro east to Tempe and Mesa or west to Central Phoenix (Downtown, Midtown, etc). Downloading the valley metro app makes riding the train and paying the fare easy.

  • waymo (autonomous taxi with no driver) picks up from the 24th street sky train station and can take you anywhere in central phoenix, tempe, or scottsdale. you will need the waymo app to schedule a ride.

Note A: If you fly and choose not to rent a car, please coordinate rides up to Sedona and back down. I will be driving up to Sedona on Thursday and am happy to take you up with me (my truck fits 3 comfortably) but keep in mind that I will not be returning to Phoenix on sunday. There are great Sedona-Phoenix airport shuttles available and they are relatively inexpensive.

Note B: some airports/airlines offer direct flights to Flagstaff, which is slightly closer to Sedona and may be a reasonable option. You will need to rent a car and follow the driving directions to Sedona above.

Lets do this.
